Who We Are

The Elthorne Learning Centre was established in 1983 to meet the socio-cultural needs of African communities in the borough. However, in the last twentyfive years the organisation has developed and emerged as a leader in the delivery of Life-long Learning and Adult Education, and a provider of Information, Advice and Guidance and Job Brokerage services to all sections of the community.


MISSION STATEMENT

To provide accessible services to socially excluded people in order to meet their socio-economic, cultural, health and training needs through customised initiatives.


CORE AIMS

To provide information, Advice and Guidance about existing services and work collaboratively with all service providers to ensure access and easy access to services.

 

To provide learning opportunities to socially excluded people and those who face multiple barriers and or unemployed to improve their learning and job prospects.

 

Take a lead role in developing partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure that the needs of our client groups are represented at strategic level.


OBJECTIVES

  • Provide support to help people who are disadvantaged to overcome barriers to learning
  • Assist jobless people to prepare for and find work
  • Provide education and training
  • Support young people to engage with society and develop themselves
  • Support people who are already in work to improve the level of qualification
  • Capacity Building of community organisations
  • Workforce Development programmes

The Elthorne Learning Centre offers free friendly, welcoming service, including clear information, advice and guidance on learning opportunities for adults. Our service is impartial and confidential to enable clients to make informed decisions about their learning and career aspirations. Our frontline staffs have skills and knowledge to identify and effectively meet clients need irrespective of their social, cultural, economic or religious background.
